  • The 11-inch Bigfoot vinyl toys are currently (and curiously, simultaneously) available through for $95 + shipping. Bigfoot produced them himself (with help from Kuso Vinyl) in four colorways: brown (edition of 450), purple (edition of 100), black (edition of 100) and green (edition of 100). While normal strategy suggests that colorways should be released one by one with time elapsed in between, Bigfoot deployed the whole gang at once (just weeks before Comic-Con, too). This is usually not considered good practice from a business perspective because it gives collectors too many choices. Companies tend to prefer releasing a single color and forcing collectors to buy it without the benefit of knowing what’s to come. (In a less jaded sense, this strategy also allows collectors to save money between releases.) Bigfoot, however, isn’t at all interested in market manipulation.

The last time I can remember any Bigfoot toys in the stores was way back in the 70s when that alien robot Sasquatch fought Steve Austin on TV. That toy kinda looked like they stuck “Grizzly Adams” head on Bigfoots body. Then again, the Bigfoot in those “Six Million Dollar Man” episodes kinda looked like a giant, harry (harrier?), Dan Haggerty also.

  • To get your Bigfoot toy fix in the 1970s, you had to do a little legwork. A lucky kid might have been handed down one of these awesome Marx battery-operated Yetis.

  • Well, I never. The Coleman camping gear people, no relation, have come out with a new Bigfoot toy. Right off the bat, there’s that name they’ve given it. The “Coleman Pet Prehistoric Sasquatch” toy that makes an ungodly noise when squeezed. At 15 inches long or tall, it is sizable but not gigantic.

I especially like the fact that the remote uses icons rather than words. This makes it Bigfoot much easier for toddlers to play with while still being accessible to older kids.
