  • Overall: While I balk at some of the minifigures selected for this set, there’s no way that I can look past the fact that the 2013 LEGO 75002 Star Wars AT-RT is a tremendous value and a great set all-around. The modified Yoda minifigure is slight improvement, and I’m thrilled to finally have a 501st Clone Trooper minifigure (and looking forward to many more!). The Commando Droid Captain is pretty weak as a figure (as are all of LEGO’s Battle Droids), but the Destroyer Droid minifigure is so brilliantly constructed that it more than makes up for it. And the AT-RT is just beautiful in its 501st deco and a surprising amount of fun to build and play with. There hasn’t been a better LEGO Star Wars set at the $19.99 price-point in years. The LEGO Star Wars AT-RT 75002 earns a fully-positive review and a high recommendation.

The Lego 75002 AT-RT has been regarded as one of the most cost-effective sets of this first wave of 2013 sets. Packed with a walker, four minifigures and 222 pieces, let’s see if it’s really all it’s cracked up to be.

  • The Lego 75002 AT-RT was a bipedal walker utilized by the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. It performed recon and patrol duties due to its high maneuverability and ability to travel at great speeds. All-Terrain Recon Transports were equipped with a repeating blaster cannon mounted on the walker’s nose along with a mortar launcher. These walkers stood at 3.2 meters tall and were operated by pilots in an open cockpit. Such a design allowed for good visibility but made the pilot vulnerable to sniper and heavy fire. The walkers could be carried on Republic gunships – one where a speeder bike is normally place, and another in the crew bay if it was vacant. They could be deployed by ground vehicles as well; a modification to an AT-TE allowed it to carry an AT-RT in the back.
