  • Happy St. Paddy’s day FPNYC Faithful! I thought about doing a special themed article tied into the holiday, but doing an all-green or all-Irish toy list would be lame, and writing up posts drunk is genuinely frowned upon. So instead the theme I’m going with will be “Oh man, lookit new Marvel toys”, a topic I am certainly super-familiar with.

Marvel Toys (formerly Toy Biz and Charan Toys) was a toy division of . ToyBiz originated in Montreal, Quebec as Charan Industries's American brand. Reincorporated in 1988, ToyBiz became an American firm. It became a major producer of Marvel character toys and partially owned by 's in 1993.

  • In January 2007, acquired the exclusive right to be the official toy manufacturer of registered Marvel Entertainment characters. Marvel Entertainment's decision meant that Marvel Toys would no longer be able to produce any Marvel figures as it would violate the Marvel Entertainment/Hasbro deal. In 2007, Marvel Toys still made toys of non-Marvel trademarked brands such as TNA Wrestling, Legendary Comic Book Heroes and Curious George. It should be noted that Legendary Comic Heroes were not selling very well and subsequently at the 2008 Toy Fair convention the figures were announced as being canceled. In January 2008, TNA Wrestling signed with due to the fall of Marvel Toys. In April 2008, the Marvel Toys website went down, hence officially showing the end of Marvel Toys.

Toy Biz added to its wide selection of Marvel toys by adding WCW wrestling figures, based on many of its famous wrestlers. Most famously was their "Smash'n'Slam" and "Grip'n'Flip" series. The latter was most known for its "magnetic" wrestling figures, which was new. The "Smash'n'Slam" series were traditional wrestling action figures with stars like (w/), (w/another Rey Mysterio), (w/referee), (w/breakable table and mask), (w/Chair), (w/Baseball Bat and Coat), (w/Breakable Police Barricade), (w/Breakable guardrail) and of course, (w/Spraycan, Vest, Belt and Stairs). Another, and newer, Smash'n'Slam series called "Ringmasters" was later released with , , Lex Luger and Hogan. All these figures had features that resembled their name. Lex Luger had an executioners mask, axe and a torture rack (info: Lex Luger's finishing manoeuvre was called the "Torture Rack"), while Hollywood Hulk Hogan came with a director's chair and all (resembling his Hollywood gimmick).
