  • Roll Play is a live-action, interactive movement series for preschoolers. Each episode is a story about the adventures of puppet characters. While the movements of the Famous PEOPLE Player puppets play out on a black background, children re-enact the movements against a white background. Kids love stories, pretending and getting physical, so they not only watch, but also participate. Written by

“We produced the first season of Roll Play 7 years ago. It was the first series that Sinking Ship ever produced entirely on its own. For Roll Play to have endured so long and for its 3rd season to be recognized by such a distinguished international jury and amongst such a spectacular array of productions makes us feel like we’ve already won. Winning $25,000 would be nice also…”
    - J.J. Johnson, Executive Producer and Director, Sinking Ship Entertainment

  • “This show is my winner because it is colourful and creative. Roll Play lets you dance and sing with them and I like doing that. I also like how all the animals move around and play. The thing I love the most is that the show tells a story each time. I love watching Roll Play because I can roll play with the animals too!”
    – Jasjeet, age 5, Ontario

  • Roll Play mixes puppet-based adventures with live action exercise for a fun mix of story-telling and physical fitness. In front of a black background, colourful puppets act out children’s stories by renowned Canadian artists. Sharing the screen with the puppets are kids who match the puppets’ actions. Children at home can jump, stomp, shimmy, roll and play along with their peers on-screen. Kids love stories, pretending and getting physical, so they not only watch, but also participate.

Rites of Battle: Role Play vs Roll Play

Roll Play (created and produced by ) combines storytelling with physical movements designed to encourage preschooler participation. While the movements of the puppets play out on a black background, children re-enact the puppets’ movements against a crisp white background. The magical puppets of the award winning (created by Diane Dupuy) create stunning complementary visuals. The series is endorsed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation and is broadcast on Treehouse TV and SRC – Société Radio-Canada.
