  • In the past I’ve used many of the titles in this series in the classroom, and they really do offer quite a lot of science content with just the right degree of sophistication for a younger audience. This latest installment in the nonfiction series is an excellent intro to the science of global warming, with the science woven nicely into another wacky adventure with the Friz. It’s familiar territory, but it works and it should please kids who are science buffs and fans of the Magic School Bus gang too.

Earth Day is coming up soon and the latest Magic School Bus science picture book, The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge is an engaging and informative book for teachers to bring into the classroom for Earth Day lessons.

Parents need to know that The Magic School Bus books are part of a science-based series of that teaches kids about a variety of topics, including what they can do about climate change, what the inside of the Earth is like, and which dinosaurs lived in different time periods. Because these books are based in fact, they do teach kids that humans are having an impact on climate change, that people and dinosaurs never lived together, and more. The kids in this class work as a team and produce good reports to share with readers. Ms. Frizzle has endless enthusiasm for teaching -- especially when she gets to take the class out on her magical bus. Because of the heavy text here, these books work better when kids can read them themselves; a read-aloud will simply take too long. One of the classmates, Arthur, is often anxious about the field trips, and some kids might be scared by images of a dinosaur eating another injured dinosaur, or by the bus making a narrow escape from an erupting volcano. The Magic School Bus series has also insipred a , , and .

  • We subscribed to the Magic School bus Monthly Science experiment kits. We got our first kit last month. It was about Solids, Liquids, and Gases. My son is 6 and he really had so much fun doing these experinents. It was awesome to see him grasp the concepts and he loved the hands on aspects. I grew up watching Magic School bus and I'm happy to be able to share it with my child now. We are awaiting this month's kit which will be about Magnets. I think it is a great product. Anything that gets kids excited to learn in my book is fantastic.
